Hugging Face has launched an app store for the Reachy Mini robot, stocking it with more than 200 apps at launch. The store is open-source. VentureBeat reported the development as a first for consumer-accessible robotics platforms.
Distribution is the hard problem in robotics. Hardware can exist; getting software to buyers reliably is what decides whether a platform scales or stalls. Hugging Face is applying the same app-store logic that made mobile computing legible to mass markets. A robot without a software ecosystem is a device. A robot with 200 apps at launch is a platform.
