Scaleway Buys 1,000 H100s, Expands to 52 Countries

Scaleway has acquired 1,000 Nvidia H100 GPUs and expanded its cloud platform to 52 countries, according to Data Center Dynamics. The French cloud provider is adding owned compute capacity at the same time it widens its international reach.

This is a dual move: more hardware and more markets at once. Most European cloud operators rent GPU capacity from hyperscalers. Owning 1,000 H100s puts Scaleway in a different category. It controls the compute, not just the interface. That matters as European enterprises look for sovereign, non-US cloud options.

Watch whether Scaleway converts the 52-country footprint into enterprise contracts, not just availability zones. Owned GPUs are only an asset if demand fills them. Distribution moved. Whether buyers follow is the operating question.
